WHERE
To be in residence at Le CouveNt means : to work collaboratively, to receive technical and artistic assistance and to be immersed in a outstanding environment, a 17th century convent 55 minutes flight away from Paris.
Description
Le CouveNt is a creative space dedicated to music, visual arts, writing, multimedia and performing arts.
Its MISSION is to promote contemporary artistic practices and the exchange between artists and co-creation projects that connect different creative processes.
Our approach includes:
-Art Residencies & workshops
-Musical Performance Coaching sessions
-Concerts, Exhibits & Performances.
-Sound recording sessions
While in residence, the artists will benefit from an intense production time enhanced by the exchange of ideas and experiences with peers.
Le CouveNt can provide lodging for up to 20 people and working space for up to 5 visual artists at the same time.
Le CouveNt also organizes Open Studio events, for the public to witness the creative process and work in progress of the artists in residence. The purpose is to provide the forum for communication and exchange of ideas. Each artist designs the format, agenda and dynamics that best suits their work and the messages they want to pass on to the audience.
Le CouveNt works with a large network of local professional artists (arts advisory committee) and technicians (sound, lighting) and it is recognized as the regional culture & arts reference.
Our premises include an old convent (17th century), that has been restored over the last three years with the aim to preserve its history and style. There are several working spaces (individual or shared), several exhibition & concert rooms, individual and double bedrooms, a large common kitchen/dining room, sitting and relaxing area. Le ConveNt is also equipped with Wi-Fi & ethernet internet access. Computers (Mac OS X / Windows / Linux) are also available on demand.
A car is available for the individual use of artists in residence without additional cost (except for fuel).
The former convent is situated in Auzits, a village in Aveyron, France south west region. Located on top of the village, it has breathtaking views of the Cantal and Aubrac hills. The nearest airport, Rodez, is only 20 minutes from Le CouveNt, with 3 to 5 regular flights of about one hour from/to Paris. The nearest train station is located a few kilometers away.
