Since 2008 artists, which had their studios in former factory VEF has started collective public artistic activities like contemporary art exhibitions, open doors of artists ateliers, performances and happenings.
Since 2009 the main activist – artist Kaspars Lielgalvis has started to work on foundation of an Art Center near by the artist studios in the area.
Since 2010 an Art Center Totaldobže is located into two neighboring buildings, from which one is set as and exhibition and events house and other is full with artist studios and residencies.
Artist studio/loft (85m2)
Studio with two large windows and 5-6m high ceiling. Its possible to empty up a wall or put a large table in the middle of the room for longer time periods.
There is a shower, which can be used also for screen washing or other artistic needs. In the same corridor there is a silkscreen printing workshop. There is hot water and washing machine.
There is kitchen with fridge, cooktop, plates, dishes and other stuff necessary for cooking.
Small bedroom on second level, above the shower with double bed. Blankets, sheets and towels are included.
Studio is located on second level next to fourteen other studios of photographers, painters, graphic artists, architect and other artists. In the same house there are other art workshops and rooms for rehearsals.
WC is shared with neighbours.
Costs for two persons
One night – EUR 30, weekend (Friday-Monday) – EUR 70, a week – EUR 140, a month – EUR 500, each extra person – EUR 10 per night
