qwatz is a residence programme based in Rome since 2007, conceived and set up to provide support to artists and curators who would like to develop their own individual artistic research during a stay in the city. Our programme helps artists and curators by providing them with constant networking services, advice and technical support; at the same time putting them into contact with a network of professionals working in Rome, Italy and abroad who are connected in some way with their particular area of interest. It also organises special studio visits for programme participants.
Our aims are:
– To promote the discussion and exchange of ideas locally and internationally in the field of contemporary art;
– To give the chance to collaborate with professionals from specialised fields whose interests are connected with those of the programme’s participants;
– To use art effectively as a means for informing and promoting ideas and innovation;
– To increase the public’s interest in contemporary art through exhibitions, group events, video and film projections, and workshops.
qwatz develops also cultural projects in dialogue with institutions and museums.
We have collaborated over time with national and international organizations, developing a wide network of art and culture professionals.
We believe that the artists’ abilities to create images and objects, to build relationships and to communicate contents are a great resource for individuals and businesses. The sections traveLcontemporary ROME and business of qwatz , for example, develop dedicated services in dialogue with artists and curators.
