PIRAMIDÓN CENTRE D’ART CONTEMPORANI

Located in the Sant Martí district of Barcelona, Piramidón is a space created in 1990 with the will to provide the necessary infrastructure for the development of the work of the different artist who are part of it.

Since its founding, Piramidón has aimed to support artists in the face of instabilities in the art market as well as offering adequate spaces for their needs. It is about to provide the necessary facilities in order to favor the development of their artistic careers.

With thirty years of history, Isidre Bohigas (president) and Marc Comerma and Josep Alavedra (advisors) decided to launch this ambitious project as well as starting the Piramidón art collection.

Hybrid space between creation factory and art gallery, Piramidón merges the field of artistic production with the field of dissemination, exhibition and sale of works of art.

From the beginning, the center is based on the promotion and exhibition of contemporary art and its most diverse languages. The aim is to bring contemporary art closer to the general public. Not only with the ones who want to establish a first contact with this world, but also the ones who want to expand their collection.

The main difference between Piramidón and the rest of the art galleries is the possibility of visiting the different exhibitions as well as having the chance to meet and having a direct contact with the artists in their creative spaces.

The art center of Piramidón has a total of 18 studios, characterized for their brightness and tranquility. 16 of them are for artists in residency, without necessarily pre-defined time, who are living and working in Barcelona. The other 2 are offered to non-resident Barcelona artists, with a temporary stay from 3 to 6 months.

Facilities:

-Possibility of exhibit the work in the gallery space.
-Information of the artist (exhibitions, works, talks…) on social networks (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), on the website and in “Piramidón News” (Biannual newsletter of the varius exhibitions and activities of the artists of Piramidón)

Technical facilities:

-Free acces to the kitchen-office.
-Free use of the dining room/or meeting room.
-Water and electricity service.
-Free acces to the rooftop terrace.
-Free use of the tools and machinery.
-Free wifi acces.
-Printing facilities.
-Storage and temporary custody of artist personal belongings. -Reception messaging.
